Counseling And Therapy Services
At Your Gray Matters, counseling and therapy are practiced with individuals, adolescents, couples, and families to help create actionable practices that bring greater joy, strength, and resiliency to all relationships
This practice is both an art and a science. It is varied in its approach and technique. I work with individuals, couples, and adolescents, to cure or relieve mental, emotional, and relational concerns of all kinds. This also includes diagnosing mental illness or dysfunction.
Couple Therapy and Marriage Counseling
Both individual and couples therapy are most beneficial when a significant relationship has been developed between the therapist and client(s). Therefore, the more consistently you have therapy, you should expect to benefit greatly. However, depending on the diagnosis issue at hand, clients report that coming in for a few visits have helped them make significant changes.
It is not unusual for one person to want counseling more than the other person. In fact, it can be pretty common. If only one partner is ready to start counseling, he or she will still benefit from being seen individually. When one partner is not willing or ready to come in together for therapy, it is better for the person who is open to starting to begin without the other partner than to force the issue and create resentment. Furthermore, couples may have different goals and interests for the relationship and it is an opportunity to work on differentiating goals before beginning couples therapy.
